One of my favorite things about this plane is the way it collapses down into a small, transportable package about 7"x7"x32" (20x20x80cm). Setup can be done in 2 minutes and breakdown in 1 minute.
I have used rubber bands for mounting the main wing and canard because they are simple, fairly foolproof, inexpensive, and forgiving in a crash or hard landing. The main wing folds in half and the vertical stabilizers fold under and between the wings. The hinge mechanism is extremely easy to construct using duct tape and velcro.
The canard wing is a solid piece with no mechanical or electrical components. I did originally test a canard with elevators and it flew great but I opted out of that design due to the complexity.
