Hybrid demand at ANSA Motors currently stands at approximately 35% of new car purchases in Trinidad and Tobago, a trend the company is seeking to capitalise on with the launch of the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Hybrid Electric Vehicle.
Speaking at the launch on Friday, General Manager of New Vehicle Sales, Mark Pontifex, said consumer demand is increasingly shifting towards hybrid technology because of the benefits it offers drivers.
"Even as EV adoption, as we call it, grows locally, hybrid demand currently stands at approximately 35% of new car purchases in Trinidad and Tobago. And consumers are looking for value, that's why they're buying into hybrid. It offers fantastic fuel efficiency and benefits of the electrified technology, while retaining the convenience and familiarity drivers value. There's no need to plug in or plan around charging."
And ANSA Motors Sector Head of Automotives, Nicholas Sabga, said the launch is part of a broader strategy to grow the Mitsubishi brand and respond to evolving consumer needs.
"We need to broaden the portfolio and ensure Mitsubishi remains contemporary, competitive, and relevant. This launch is an important step in that direction. Tonight represents our confidence in Mitsubishi and what the brand may become. We see opportunity, great choice for customers, new customers for Mitsubishi, growth for the brand in Trinidad and Tobago. A brand that is evolving, a brand that is competing, a brand that is ready to welcome a new generation of customers."
He noted that today's car buyers are placing greater emphasis on technology, efficiency, safety, comfort and overall ownership costs, making hybrid vehicles an attractive option for the local market.
