🐸 Another toad-al success! This year's boreal toad release was our biggest yet!
A team of 27 volunteers, including 9 DZCA employees, headed into the mountains near Leadville to release over 3,500 tadpoles into carefully selected alpine habitat. That's more than any previous release in our program's history! 🏔️
Since 2021, DZCA has partnered with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to breed and reintroduce this State-Endangered species into the Rocky Mountains. Boreal toads face serious threats from chytrid fungus, rising temperatures, and habitat loss, and every tadpole released brings this species one step closer to recovery.
