After my last semi-successful attempt to erect a tarp configuration over my new OneTigris mesh bug net tent using a ridge line between two trees, I decided to give it another try using just poles in this video. Using my two 5-section poles (6.2’/189cm) and two trekking poles (130cm/4.26’), I found it to be infinitely more difficult to get the 3 meter x 3 meter tarp up compared to using a ridge line! However, the results were much more to what I envisioned and the six foot plus height allowed for a lot more headroom for me in front of the tent. I’m around 5’ 9” (175cm). With the taller poles positioned at the middle tarp attachments, I had two sections of the 3 meter (9.75’) tarp to sit under or about 1.5m (4.9’). That meant, however, that the back of the tent wasn’t as well covered as I’d like. More practice needed.
This practice session also gave me an opportunity to try out my new, low-to-the-ground camp table, the iClimb Mini Solo. My portable, folding chair is always great to have along as well.
