the iconic, groundbreaking blockbuster of a movie, steven spielberg's jaws (1975), surprisingly left its franchise to go out on an extremely low note (1987's jaws: the revenge), and in a world run by sequels, reboots, remakes, and intellectual properties, jaws hasn't made a grand, modern comeback to the big screen in the vein of movies like jurassic world, halloween, ghostbusters, godzilla, etc.

we also haven't gotten any shark movies that have come close to the brilliance of jaws. the shallows is the closest thing we got. what gives???
