Looking for a spoiler free guide to War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy? Look no further! I am sharing my annotations, reactions, TV series guide and quotes in this video, along with my tips for how to read this epic book and instructions on how to pair the BBC mini series with your reading.
Often referred to as "the greatest book ever written" this can be an intimidating one to pick up. It is well over 1,000 pages, it is translated from Russian, it was written a long time ago, and it is about a tough topic. However it really doesn't have to be so scary!
Firstly I break how how to annotate War and Peace. If you aren't sure what to tag you can leverage Spark Notes, because there is a lot of great information there! Annotating really helps enhance the reading experience and keeps me engaged, and this is the perfect book for annotations.
I also pair each episode of the BBC mini series of War and Peace to the volumes of the book, so you can watch and read at the same time without being spoiled.
I break down the volumes and parts and give my reactions to each. You can get an idea of what War and Peace is about through that without focusing too much on the plot where your own reading is spoiled.
Finally I share some of my favorite quotes from War and Peace. So much of this book is hard to capture in just a couple lines, but there is no shortage of quotes that inspire.
