somberhoney books | Annotating My Favorite Novel | Oops All B-Roll @somberhoney | Uploaded September 2023 | Updated October 2024, 18 minutes ago.
It's usually very hard for me to pick favorites, but when I read The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones for the first time two years ago, I knew I had something special in my hands. I reread it for the first time last September and after that second read I realized that it definitely was my favorite book of all time.
This year, for the third read, I decided to go through and annotate it by highlighting lines - the three things I looked for were quotes dealing with disability, love/grief, and magic. Maybe next year I'll go through and highlight more, I think themes like nature and home would be good contenders.
If you watch closely, you'll probably be able to tell where I had to end one of my clips because I was about to cry and didn't want to get that on camera, lol. I love that even on my third read of this book, it still has the power to make me cry. If you haven't read this book before, I would really recommend you give it a shot.
