Annalisa Mansukhani, a writer, researcher, and curator delivered a talk on Sentences with the Image: Seeing, Writing, Responding as a prelude to PVA222 Seeing Photographs offered by the School of Arts and Sciences at Ahmedabad University.
Ms Mansukhani pursues what it means to read a photograph across vocabularies, sensibilities, and formulations. She examines how we view and encounter an image within contemporary art and curatorial practices. Her talk highlights certain processes that respond to adjacencies and textures within word-image relationships, exhibition-making, and vocabularies in contemporary photographic practice.
Ms Mansukhani studies histories of photography and notions of the image in contemporary art and curatorial practices. She is a recipient of the first Critical Collective Photo SouthAsia Young Writer’s Award for lens based practices in 2021.
