Insights into Mathematics | Anna Tomskova's welcome to Algebraic Calculus One | Wild Egg Maths @njwildberger | Uploaded 3 years ago | Updated 5 hours ago
Dr Anna Tomskova introduces you to the Algebraic Calculus One course and some of its many novel features, including a wide variety of animations and GeoGebra apps that will help you to visualize many important ideas and results from geometry and analysis.

She also gives some general comments and advice about taking this novel online course in Calculus, which presents the subject in a direct and algebraic way with completely precise definitions, yet manages to obtain results which are in many cases more powerful than the usual introductory Calculus material found in standard texts.

We hope you will consider joining this exciting development in modern mathematics education-- it is fully online at Open Learning: openlearning.com/courses/algebraic-calculus-one/homepage/?cl=1.

The fee is $150 (AUS) and the course includes hundreds of hours of learning activities, with many Worked Problems and Homework Questions, complementing the Videos and accompanying Notes.

The course includes: basics of affine geometry, Faulhaber's original introduction to the Derivative and the Integral is used, the geometry of algebraic curves and especially the curves of de Casteljau and Bezier, an introduction to the Discrete Calculus, applications to topology and physics and a purely algebraic approach to the Integral Calculus without limits and resting on the linear algebraic notion of signed area for oriented splines.

The culmination is a novel Fundamental Theorem that introduces ideas usually found only in higher level courses involving multi variable and vector calculus, and that allows a more general integration theory over curves rather than functions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a new generation of students and educators!
