It's uncommon to hold an anime convention inside a dead mall. But with lots of space, places to eat, and plenty of parking, there's no harm in doing so. Maybe the only downside is lack of nearby hotels. However for a small event, it's not really necessary. Entry and parking were free. You actually didn't need a ticket to attend! Having a convention inside the mall has allowed the attendees a chance to give business to the few remaining businesses at the mall. It's nice to have some positive light in this otherwise sad, dreary mall.
