Ani-May has become a yearly tradition of doing either animation or just anime inspired art. This year got a little bit slower than the past two, but there were still some highlights.
This video shows the process for a couple paintings and also has a short break to talk about my basic mental approach to making a character look "anime-style".
Everything here is done in Corel Painter.

Design Lab is a series that uses viewer participation to explore unique designs. Part 1 is a briefing that goes over the category. Anyone is free to participate.
Episode 16 of Design Lab is a creature based episode, and this topic is all about creating a demon style creature that involves the use of patterns in some way. A demon can be a lot of things, but its good to think of shape language that denotes some sort of evil presence. You can submit as many different ideas as you like.
Remember, your skill level is not a factor. Were simply looking for creative and solid design ideas. Do your best to not over-design or over-render.

January 24th has come and gone, but some of you may know that every January 24th I like to have a bit of a Paintsploration marathon. I paint on one layer for as much as I can over the course of the day. My wrist was not in top health this year, but I got in over 8 hours of nonsense painting.
Here it is, compressed to 6 minutes. I wasnt that happy with anything this year, but hopefully the process itself still makes for an amusing video even if the art quality is lame.
