Gnomon Certificate in Digital Production student Nico Gaudino animated this combat showcase for Ystra the Astral Witch in our Animation for Games course.
Pinning down the relationship between Ystra and her arms was Nico's biggest hurdle. He landed on a dynamic where the arms are protective and loving toward her, turning aggressive the moment she faces an opponent. On the technical side, the rig lacked a scale feature for the floating arms, which he solved by using clusters to scale the geometry directly.
