HOW DO YOU TITLE PMVS???


h-hi subscribers, this is not a typical AMV because the drawings you see, are in fact, by yours truly. Me.

Well, mostly referenced from the original Utena OP, which you should watch before you think I'm any good at animating haha.
This video also has subtitles because I re-rendered like 5 times bc of small mistakes and I needed something to do.

I've worked on this on-and-off for about 4 months. And I'm so glad it's done holy shit.

So as for the backstory of this: I watched Tutu and Utena somewhat side by side. Somewhere along the way I was like "hah. Anthy and Mytho have peculiar situations with swords lol" and then this fanart happened: stray-tori.tumblr.com/post/190804319515/this-is-what-happens-when-you-watch-utena-and
(yes I'm Fakir/Mytho trash in case that wasn't already obvious - not necessarily romantic but I like their dynamic and I want moreeee)

I felt like I'd have sooo much to say about this, but in fact, I'm pretty empty.

I actually started working on this AU before I finished Tutu, so the costumes (esp. Mytho) aren't really based on their final costumes or anything, it's just based on the ballet outfits they wear in the OP. I am very upset about not giving Mytho a crown, but I do like floofy hair and floofy hair with crown is awkward.

So. AU ramblings:
In case you don't know Utena: It's about this girl, the rose bride, who basically gets handed around this fight club of duelists that duel each other for her hand because she has the key to eternity or some shit. Utena, the MC, basically says Fuck That and duels for her and then tries to become friends with her, yada yada.

More (Utena spoilers I guess):

- Fakir is basically Saionji (the duelist that Anthy, the rose bride, "belongs to" in the beginning and oh boy does he not treat her well) but with a bit of Utena sprinkled in. Ahiru notices that Fakir treats Mytho badly, tells him to cut that shit out and then Mytho becomes Ahiru's "bride"
- Fakir changes and eventually probably gets him back or maybe it's just wholesome ot4 dynamic i don't know.
- Either way, Mytho is both Anthy and the Prince here which is. very weird but I think with his whole self-sacrificial stick that actually works really well too. He's not the prince anymore, he's just a husk.
- Obviously the whole Anthy's brother segment doesn't happen, but his role as "end of the world" (basically the puppet master behind everything) is pretty safely taken up by Drosselmeyer anyway. Not sure how far I'd include the whole writing aspect but you could PROBABLY do that somehow.
- Aight so can we talk about Mytho stabbing Fakir.
- Or like. Fakir, after the final showdown lying on the collapsed ground being like "I couldn't be the knight you needed" bc hohhh boyyy the angstttt-
- Also one of my friends was like "Imagine Utena duels but they make the raven poses" and that's so insanely funny I cannot.

Also Rue saying "the only time I ever was happy was when I was with you" is basically 1:1 what Utena says and I'm not over that. This AU is a mess as you can see but. OH WELL.
