Turnips are the future.

So I was messing around with Nook codes the other day and rediscovered that you can incorporate the 7F Byte in Nook Codes. This byte is found in all dialogs in the game which, when read by the game, will execute a dialog command based on the proceeding characters. Dialog commands are responsible to determining how fast a dialog is, if the dialog can be skipped, prompting a selection menu, adding pauses in the speech, ending the dialog after a certain amount of time, and many other things. I found you can also invoke a Katrina fortune which, when activated, maxes out the Golden Spot and Money Rock Bells, providing a lot of quick money, if you can find both. Also, I found you can cancel the music with 7F which saves time loading the map. Additionally, I determined the shortest amount of time you can spend to cancel the password dialog without softlocking the game. This is all accomplished with a single Nook code as you can set the Town Name and Player Name to whatever you want for a password and when you receive your present from Nook, he will read off the Town and Player the present is from. Since the town and player name contains 7F commands, those dialog commands are activated.

The codes used to activate these dialog commands will provide two 30,000 Bell Bags and 100 Turnips. The route requires the player to run around town and look for the golden spot for 30,000 Bells and the Money Rock for 63,000 Bells. Since it's fastest to pay off a new debt each day, the player will also spend 17,400 Bells to pay the first debt, in addition to the 500 needed for the shovel. This leaves the player with 135,100 Bells to spend on Turnips. Then, using an Excel spreadsheet I created that calculates how many Turnips you will need to buy depending on the selling price Joan has, you will buy those Turnips and hope to get a spike on the following day(s). Ideally, you will want a Turnip Sell Price above 101, which is just under a 50% chance, but there are backup strats for lower prices.

A spike is a Turnip price Nook buys turnips that is 8 times the selling price on that Sunday. It occurs 40% of the time in a given week, Monday through Friday, or an 8% chance of occurring on the first day. And that's exactly what happens in this route. I made a handful of execution mistakes, and I spent a while looking for the money rock, but I managed to get everything else to line up for this route to work. I expect this route to save 3-4 minutes over the traditional All Debts route with near perfect RNG and execution. For now, I am happy with this PB!

If you want to watch my runs live, I stream Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays!
