Angela Linn (94BA), has been a museum professional for more than 26 years, and is developing a plan to conserve, interpret, and exhibit the “Magic Bus” made infamous by the book and subsequent film, Into the Wild.
Linn is the senior collections manager of Ethnology and History at the University of Alaska Museum of the North (UAMN) in Fairbanks, Alaska, which in September 2020 became the official repository for Into the Wild’s Bus 142. At UAMN, she cares for and provides access to more than 17,000 objects that help tell the story of Alaskans, both Indigenous and non-Native settlers.
Born and raised in eastern Iowa, Linn was inspired by the University of Iowa’s Old Capitol Museum and the Museum of Art to study anthropology and museum studies at the UI and the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). Linn is currently an interdisciplinary PhD candidate housed in the Arctic and Northern Studies program at UAF.
