Rovers signed tough tackling defender, Andy Todd, from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2002 for a fee of £750k.

The no nonsense centre back would provide extra steel to a defence already containing the likes of Henning Berg, Craig Short, Martin Taylor and Nils-Eric Johansson. However, Todd would initially find it difficult to break into the Rovers side ahead of the above named defensive options. Indeed, he would have to wait until early November 2002 to make his League debut for Rovers, that coming in a 1-1 draw against Southampton at St Mary's. His first season as a Rovers player is most remembered for an incident that occurred against Birmingham City in a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park, when Todd Proceeded to kick Christophe Dugarry on the backside and subsequently received a red card. Todd made 19 appearances for Rovers in all competitions in the 2002/03 and scored once. That goal coming at Elland Road during a 3-2 Rovers win.

At the start of the 2003/04 season, Andy Todd had stated his desire for first team football and with his opportunities limited, Graeme Souness allowed him to go out on loan. Todd went on to sign for rivals Burnley, however was recalled to the club after a month due to a defensive injury crisis. Following this, Todd became more of a regular in the Rovers side and played his part in helping Rovers to avoid relegation.

The 2004/05 campaign saw Rovers bring in new defensive reinforcements in the form of Ryan Nelsen, Aaron Mokoena and Dominic Matteo, but Andy Todd managed to make himself a mainstay in the Rovers defence, making 32 appearances that season and scoring once against Newcastle at Ewood Park. He also helped the club reach the FA Cup semi final, a game in which he infamously elbowed Robin Van Persie after the Dutchman had scored for Arsenal.

It was the 2005/06 season that was to be Todd's best season as a Rovers player as he and Ryan Nelsen formed a solid partnership at the back helping Rovers to a top 6 finish in the Premier League. Despite rotating at times with Zurab, Todd proved himself to be a reliable defender in key games for Rovers, making 28 appearances in all competitions that season. He also scored three times, but this was to be he final productive season as a Rovers player.

In the 2006/07 season, manager Mark Hughes, signed defenders Andre Ooijer and Chris Samba, meaning that Todd fell out of favour. Both of the new defenders saw more game time alongside Ryan Nelsen, with Todd only making 13 appearances in all competitions that campaign. Todd was allowed to join Derby County for a fee of £750k in the summer of 2007 after having spent five years as a Blackburn Rovers player.

Andy Todd made 113 appearances for Rovers in total and scored five goals. Here are those goals.
