After traveling up the West coast from Berkeley to BC as videographer with John Seed and Wallys's 1989 Rainforest Road Show, John bequeathed the van to me for my Earth First! road shows. First up was Redwood Summer, a 10,000 mile trip over two months the next summer.
Some time after that Harrod Blank, son of documentary filmmaker Les Blank, slid his business card under my windshield wiper a couple of times in Berkeley with a note scrawled on it asking to meet, and so we hooked up.
He asked if he could include the van and me in his documentary on art cars, Wild Wheels. This must have been late 1990 or the first nine months of 1991 because the van was destroyed along with all of my other possessions in the Oct. 1991 Oakland Firestorm that left 20,000 people homeless and cost $3 billion damage.
