The Andrews Bald hike is a 3.8 mile out and back near Clingmans Dome in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Forney Ridge trail, which is the one you're looking for, is accessible from the parking lot of Clingmans Dome and is easily marked with a sign. Be advised that while the hike only has a change of 900 feet in elevation, for the the first half of it you will going down in elevation and the return may be tougher for you. The bald itself is the highest grassy bald in the park.
This is the twelfth episode of our Appalachian Mountain series where we took a two week road trip from Shenandoah National Park down the Blue Ridge Parkway and explored the Great Smoky Mountains.
