✨ WELCOME TO KIDS CORNER! ✨
Today, we’re exploring something super special… a real Bible scroll that’s almost 1,000 years old!
📜 This ancient scroll comes from the Book of Exodus and was discovered in one of the most famous collections of old writings in the world: the Cairo Geniza!
But what’s a geniza?
In Hebrew, it means “hiding place.” Long ago, people stored old scrolls and books with God’s name in them because they believed God’s name was so holy it should never be thrown away.
🏺 The Cairo Geniza was created in 882 AD in the attic of the Ben Ezra Synagogue in old Cairo, Egypt. When it was opened in 1896, people found around 400,000 items—a discovery so important that it’s compared to finding the Dead Sea Scrolls!
📖 The scroll we’re showing today was a gift from Bible historian Rusty Maisel. It dates to around 1100 AD and includes passages from Exodus 14, 15, and 16.
Because Hebrew reads from right to left:
➡️ Right column: The Israelites cross the Red Sea
➡️ Center column: The Song of Moses
➡️ Left column: God provides manna for His people
💬 This scroll is hundreds of years older than anything printed on the Gutenberg press—an amazing example of how God has preserved His Word over time.
📚 Check it out for yourself! Read Exodus 14–16 in your Bible today!
