There are written accounts of Native American tribes (particularly those in California) processing and eating acorns. They can't be eaten as-is due to the tannic acid they contain. In this video Billy Berger experiments with processing acorns for food in an attempt to resurrect the forgotten flavors of the meals eaten by our prehistoric ancestors.
