In the Experiences video series, Patrice Désilets breaks down Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey’s unique concepts with experts outside of gaming. As scientists, athletes, and creative minds share about their own journeys, they come to see how similar emotions and experiences are created in the game.
In this fourth episode, Patrice Désilets and world-renowned primatologist, wildlife correspondent, and author Dr. Mireya Mayor pinpoint the characteristics required to explore Africa. A land still possessing the dangerous wildlife, harsh climate, and unpredictable threats as prehistoric times, only those with strong curiosity, drive, and perseverance can successfully navigate this terrain. As Dr. Mayor embarks on her virtual exploration of Africa, she is amazed by its realism and ability to transport her back to past expeditions while allowing her to get up close and see the world in ways that are otherwise impossible.

For every breath-taking view, beware of the weather, predators, and other dangers that threaten your survival.
- Expand Your Territory and Grow Your Clan: Increase your chances of survival by uniting new members of your species and giving birth to future generations. Control different clan members, form bonds to create families, and work together to intimidate predators during expeditions. Conquer fear as you explore unknown locations in order to expand your territory.
- Evolve Through Multiple Generations: See the physical and intellectual evolution of the first hominids as you explore, learn, and survive. Spanning from 10 million to 2 million years ago, play as one of the first hominids and evolve over the course of millions of years during key stages in human evolution.
