The Amazing Atheist recently made a video about overpopulation, pointing to a number of ecological and resource crises as evidence. These crises are very real, but I think it's capitalism that we should be much more concerned about rather than overpopulation.
To clarify, I don't think that it's an impossibility for the world to be overpopulated - it is true that sustaining human lives requires the usage of finite resources, and thus it is possible for there to be too many people for the earth to sustain. But before we even think about getting all malthusian we need to transform our economic system so that we can manage resources in a more efficient, equitable and less wasteful manner than the current chaos of the capitalist machine.
