Following the announcement the Australian government is set to donate 49 M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, Sky News Political Reporter Cameron Reddin has examined how the tanks match up against Vladimir Putin’s Russian arsenal.

For nearly two decades, the M1A1 Abrams has been Australia’s tank of choice.

The M1A1 Abrams tank is designed to travel over long distances and withstand heavy damage from explosives.

Kyiv has been asking for the Australian equipment to assist in the conflict with Russia, with the vehicles set to have been retired at the end of the year.
