2 weeks ago I released my access analog variable mu vs audio plugin shootout (analog vs digital) and whilst I thought the acustica magenta had nailed it in the plugin demo, a fellow audio engineer who owns the manley hardware decided to do their own test on an overall mix. I noticed that the SHMOD (which changes the attack envelope) wasnt being pushed and the high pass filter wasnt utilised so I have done a comparison showing how important these factors are when using acustica audio plugins to their full potential.
Audio comparisons with the music production software will be on bass, vocals and a drum buss. Nothing fancy, audio engineering basics covered so you dont need to attend audio engineering school, music production course or audio engineering 101 or anything like that.. keeping it simple..ish haha. I dont give out music production tips but hopefully these shootouts can show how you can use a variable mu compressor.
