The Giant Dipper is the fifth oldest coaster in the U.S., and the 9th oldest in the world. The Giant Dipper was built in a mere 47 days at a cost of $50,000 and opened to great fanfare on May 17, 1924. The fare then was 15 cents; today it's $6.00 per ride.
