Nadia Larcher is an Argentine singer, composer, and researcher born in Catamarca, Argentina, in 1986. She learned to sing and play the traditional music of northwestern Argentina in her family before moving to Buenos Aires to pursue a professional music career. Since then, Larcher has emerged as one of Argentina's leading folk artists. She has performed with acclaimed musicians including Teresa Parodi, Juan Falú, Liliana Herrero, León Gieco, Chango Spasiuk, Ricardo Mollo, and Juan Quintero, and has appeared at renowned venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Cosquín Festival, Argentina's premier folk music event.

In this interview, Larcher speaks with Dr. Jennie Gubner (Associate Professor, University of Arizona) about her life, her music, and her recent collaboration with the American Folklife Center exploring the collections of Argentine ethnomusicologist Isabel Aretz.

Nadia Larcher es una cantante, compositora e investigadora argentina nacida en Catamarca, Argentina, en 1986. Aprendió a cantar y a interpretar música tradicional del noroeste argentino en el seno de su familia antes de trasladarse a Buenos Aires para desarrollar una carrera musical profesional. Desde entonces, Larcher se ha consolidado como una de las artistas folclóricas más destacadas de Argentina. Ha actuado junto a músicos de renombre como Teresa Parodi, Juan Falú, Liliana Herrero, León Gieco, Chango Spasiuk, Ricardo Mollo y Juan Quintero, y se ha presentado en escenarios prestigiosos como el Kennedy Center de Washington D. C. y el Festival de Cosquín, el certamen de música folclórica más importante de Argentina.

En esta entrevista, Larcher conversa con la Dra. Jennie Gubner (profesora asociada de la Universidad de Arizona) sobre su vida, su música y su reciente colaboración con el American Folklife Center, centrada en explorar las colecciones de la etnomusicóloga argentina Isabel Aretz.
