Bruce Chapman founded Discovery Institute in 1991 after a career in writing and government that included service on the Seattle City Council, as Washington State Secretary of State, Director of the U.S. Census Bureau, aide to President Ronald George Reagan and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Organizations in Vienna (including UNRWA, the Palestine assistance administration). He is Board Chair of Discovery Institute and heads its program on Citizen Leadership.

George Gilder is the author of books on technology and economics, as well as on social policy and defense. His best-selling work on economics, Wealth and Poverty, 1981, was the most frequently economics source cited in speeches by President Reagan. Over the years such other books as Life After Television, Knowledge and Power, Life After Google, and Life After Capitalism have established George as one of America’s leading futurists. His annual COSM conference at Discovery always attracts top tech leaders and critics. In his spare time he also establishes age-group records in long distance track events.
