Every Monday The Director of the Mütter Museum takes a minute to showcase an item from our collection. This week Robert showcases an early published treatise. The treatise was written by Thomas Cadwalader and published in 1745 by Benjamin Franklin. It's an Essay on the West-India Dry-Gripes and this is important because it may be one of the first medical treatise published in North America. West-India Dry-Gripes is lead poisoning from drinking lead from alcoholic drinks.
