Cindy Lou Who-bilation Scarf
Pattern By: Patricia P. @yarny_cat crochet
November 11, 2025
Materials:
Any 4 wt yarn - 5.29 oz acrylic yarn (I used Big Twist Vortex in the colorway Neon Rainforest)
5.5mm crochet hook
Scissors
Yarn needle to weave in ends
Faux mini Christmas light string *optional*
Stitch Dictionary:
CH - chain (CH ups do not count as a stitch)
SC - single crochet
SC BLO - single crochet back loop only
HDC - half double crochet
HDC BLO - half double crochet back loop only
HDC FLO - half double crochet front loop only
DBC (X stitch) - double crochet cross stitch
SK ST - skip stitch
Notes:
Even though the ch ups do not count as a stitch, at the end of the row I will skip the last stitch and stitc chain to make the edges more even (you do you).
Directions:
CH 180 stitches + 2 additional stitches (If you need a longer scarf add on an even num stitches to desired length + the 2 additional stitches).
Row 1: HDC in 3' CH from hook, HDC till end of row. CH 2, turn.

Row 2: HDC in BLO to end of row. CH 1, turn.
Row 3: SC in BLO to end of row. CH 2, turn.
Row 4: HDC in BLO to end of row. CH 2, turn.
Row 5: This row is different, you are going to use the chain up space, but first skip it. DBC into the next stitch then cross back to the skipped stitch space and DBC making an "X". Continue with a SK ST, DBC into the next stitch and cross back into SK ST and DBC making another "X".
*Repeat this to the end of the row, you should end on the last stitch and have 90 "X" stitches.
CH 1, turn.
***(Alternate Row 5 for a more even edge as tested and revised by Missi M @Missis Yarniverse and More.
You will do the DBC cross stitches the same way, the only difference in this row is that I did a Double Crochet in the first stitch, then started the DBC Cross Stitches going across till I got to the last stitch, and in the last stitch I did a Double Crochet, which evened the edge out a bit more.)***
Row 6: SC to end of row. CH 1, turn.
Row 7: SC to end of row. CH 2, turn.
Row 8: Repeat Row 5. CH 1, turn.
Row 9: SC to end of row. CH 1, turn.
Row 10: SC to end of row. CH 2, turn.
Row 11: Repeat Row 5. CH 2, turn.
Row 12: HDC FLO to end of row. CH 2, turn.
Row 13: Repeat Row 12, CH 2, turn.
Row 14: HDC BLO to end of row. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Optional: sew faux Christmas Lights on the end as fringe or anywhere on the scarf if desired to make it more who-like 🤭 ❤️
