With robot #technology becoming more prevalent in the food industry – bringing with it automation to repetitive and tedious tasks – a Cambridge PhD student is collaborating with industry to research an AI-powered robotics solution for food handling and processing: eng.cam.ac.uk/news/future-foodly-ai-powered-autonomous-robot-food-handling

Using #ComputerVision, feedback control and learning, “Foodly” is an RT Corporation robot that is able to adapt to various challenging and novel environments.

Using on-board 3D cameras, located in the robot's head and chest, Foodly is able to recognise different types of food in real time. It has two #robotic arms that allow it to perform tasks simultaneously, such as picking up, moving and placing challenging types of food that can be of various sizes and shapes, such as vegetables, fried chicken and meatballs.
