Because in my opinion, Moffat didn't write them well in the series 7 opener. They've gone through too much to be tossed aside and given repetitive scenes, especially so late in their tenure. Note: this is my opinion and that only. I enjoyed a lot of things in the episode, but this relationship really bugged me this time around. Glaringly so. I'm aware that most people did enjoy the Rory/Amy dynamic in Asylum, and I've been given some great insights into how it still makes sense when people look at it a certain way. I'm sure it'll help me appreciate the rest of the episode more as I rewatch it, which is fantastic. Do read the debate in the comments! It's great stuff :)
