If you’ve ever wondered why MLMs have not been regulated more harshly, you need to look no further than to Amway. Amway and the Devos family have a long history of involvement with politics, and have done more than any other entity to deregulate MLMs. Amway is also the largest MLM company in the world. Because of this, many mistakenly believe that Amway was the first or original MLM; however, the truth is that the origins of MLM began way before Amway. Large corporations, such as J.R. Watkins and Avon, have more to do with MLMs than many know. A company called Nutrilite was also the precursor to Amway. This video explores the history of these companies and how they’re business practices formed MLM into what it is today.
