Amtrak "Southwest Chief" No. 3 travels through La Grange, Illinois on an overcast spring afternoon! A pair of the railroad's classic GE P42DC locomotives provide the power on today's train. Having just departed from Chicago Union Station a short distance east of this location, the train will travel for more than 40 hours across the western United States until reaching its final destination: Los Angeles Union Station in Los Angeles, California.
