Part 4 covers the Rio Grande portion, starting in Salt Lake City. Some of the film is from our westbound trip in 1970, while a later trip in 1983 was eastbound on the Rio Grande Zephyr. This portion on Amtrak is arguably their most scenic run, covering a wide array of country from treeless desert to snowcapped mountains. Climbing Soldier Summit in the dark was a unique experience.
