Testing for ammonium ions. Usually one is told to add the alkali and boil to test for ammonia with moist red litmus. Here in real time, I add 0.4M sodium hydroxide to 0.1M ammonium chloride on a polypropylene sheet with instructions inserted inside at room temperatures and let the molecules do the work by diffusing over the litmus.
