Jan Beta | Amiga 1000 Restoration | Part 1 @JanBeta | Uploaded April 2020 | Updated October 2024, 7 hours ago.
I'm doing restoration work on a machine I dreamed about ever since I was a kid: the original Amiga, better known today as the Commodore Amiga 1000! // Get your first PCBs free - PCBs at PCBWay pcbway.com (Sponsor)
Part 2 of this series: youtu.be/aoUhJGdtneg
The Amiga was kindly donated by Dennis aka RetroGameRevival on YouTube: youtube.com/channel/UCEHkvZV6pB6uw-NSmGsM-kw
The iFixit Teardown of the Amiga 1000 is here: de.ifixit.com/Teardown/Commodore+Amiga+1000+Teardown/2266
I use a ZD-915 desoldering station:*

UK: amzn.to/2K8o0P0
DE: amzn.to/2V8WZkG
Capacitors used in the revision I have:
I used same or slightly higher voltage ratings, exact same capacitance rating Panasonic FC series capacitors to replace the old caps. The 400V cap I used in the power supply is a Nippon Chemicon brand one.
Amiga 1000 Rev 252277 (from 1986):
1x 470uF 16V
1x 220uF 16V
4x 100uF 16V
1x 47uF 16V
7x 22uF 16V
Power supply (Shingdengen A1000PS/ES):
(Ideally use low ESR 105C capacitors)
1x 180uF 400V (1cm pin spacing snap-in type)
3x 2200uF 10V
1x 470uF 35V
1x 330uF 25V
3x 100uF 25V
1x 10uF 35V
1x 4.7uF 50V
1x 1uF 50V
Also, I replaced the original 7805A voltage regulator with a higher current 78S05.
(These lists might be wrong as I am only human, please contact me in case you find errors.)
