A 30-year-old American tourist was struck by lightning while hiking Sicily’s Mount Etna as it was erupting. The male victim who has not been named by authorities, was on Europe’s most active volcano Sunday when a thunderstorm broke out, Italian media report. The victim was found by firefighters and emergency services in a state of cardiac arrest in a restricted area near the summit. He was flown by helicopter to Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania but was declared dead on arrival.
