Howard Dean and Richard Perle debated the topic “American Foreign Policy Post-September 11” at Pacific University’s Tom McCall Forum. Former Governor Dean, the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee, was critical of President Bush’s foreign policy. Mr. Perle, a former member of the Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board, was a supporter of the president’s foreign policy.
Among the issues they addressed were U.S. operations in Iraq and other commitments to the region, the Middle East peace process, nuclear proliferation issues, and the future of U.S. foreign policy. (2-17-2005)
