mhpgardener | Amending Raised Beds with Organic & Natural Fertilizers- Trying Something New For Growing Peppers @mhpgardener | Uploaded May 2012 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
It's time to make a change in the greenhouse. I've cleaned out some raised beds and I need to amend the soil. I've decided to try some organic & natural fertilizers this time. They'll be slow release and should feed the plants for a longer time. For my nitrogen source, I'm using cottonseed meal. For phosphorus, I'm using 2-14-0 bone meal. I'm using a bit of wood ash for the potash. The Azomite will take care of the calcium, magnesium, and micro nutrients, as well as provide a little more slow release potash. I planted a bed of hot peppers, along with a few beds of sweet bell peppers. This is my first attempt at using organic fertilizers. I sure hope it works. And I was finally able to get something from the Asian Yardlong Beans. I'll be drying out the pods to save seed for further planting.
