The female Ambush Bug (Phymata sp.) deposits her eggs on a twig. She first produces a drop of sticky fluid to be worked into a lather, spreading it onto the previously laid eggs to bond them together, then drops the egg into the liquid which will soon harden to bind and protect the egg. The nymphs will emerge from the side of the egg with the hatch so this side is left facing away from the branch.
Once she is finished the male climbs on her side to inseminate her once again.
