When they went to court, chaos was born. First, it was Amber's turn in court. When she came in, she had a bruised cheek.
"Extreme force" was some of the words used during the proceedings by Amber. She said her then-husband, who was 23 years older than her at the time, hit and threw a cell phone at her face. The following words were in the court filings Excessive emotional, verbal, and physical abuse," she wrote in them. "Angry and hostile assaults" were also said to have been made. Johnny Depp at that time denied the claims and said that it was all made up and false. Unfortunately, the world didn't believe him.
To make matters worse Amber Heard issued out a restraining order. It was given to Heard by the judge. However, there wasn’t time for the restraining order to be implemented. They said they had worked out their differences just before a civil trial was set to start.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard went their separate ways after the divorce was finalized and it seemed like everything was calming down when Heard became romantically attached to billionaire inventor Elon Musk in the spring of 2017. That relationship, however, was short-lived. In August 2017, Heard shared on social media that the couple had broken up but would “remain close.”
It was all quiet but then came the dreadful Washington Post by Amber.
After that, in December of 2018, heard wrote an opinion piece in the Washington Post about her experience as a "public figure for domestic abuse."
"I felt the full force of our culture's wrath for women who speak out," she wrote. "I had the rare vantage point of seeing, in real time, how institutions protect men accused of abuse."
