An experiment we conducted with the help of dancer, movement artist and choreographer Lilia Leon. We explored the idea of what it might be like to tell a poem through movement. Over the course of 6 weeks we met for 2 hours each week and enjoyed our explorations together. The main idea was to create a safe place where anyone could participate but without any pressure that participation in the final performance would be mandatory.
Lilia guided us through understanding movement, being comfortable with ourselves and just plain having fun! It was an incredible time.
The poem we were exploring was "Amazingly Alive" by Bud Osborn. You can read it at google books here -- bit.ly/1Y0ENmA
The music we used in the performance was "Perpetual" by Peter Jones, available here -- bit.ly/1Y0F0X3
