“Amazing Grace” imperfect rendition on a broken guitar:
So here’s the story... I grew up with my parents doing Bible studies out of our living room that eventually led to our amazing pastor (Leon and his awesome wife Floy Lothman) opening up an amazing church that built me into who I am today. That church is no longer there but my faith still stands and I am forever grateful for that. I used to run through those Bible studies naked as a jay bird at 3 years old with Cookie Monster shoes on my feet and a bottle hanging from my teeth. My Dad would have his guitar out as he sang songs for worship and then after church he would sing Willie Nelson songs and jam some Jimi Hendrix and it was so awesome! He made me want to play guitar ever since I was little squirt. This guitar you see in the video is his old guitar that he passed down to me. It has holes from me jumping on the case like a trampoline and my Dad never got mad at me for that. I’m am grateful for his patience and his love for me and my Family. This guitar is probably worth $750 in great condition but it’s priceless to me. I had it redone and it cost a pretty penny to repair. The guitar tech asked me if I really wanted to spend that much on a guitar that’s not worth that much but I told him the story and that lit him up to work on that thing like he would for anyone else. The reason I bring this up is that people are needing encouragement more than ever right now. Someone had asked me to do this so here it is. I believe we are all like this old busted up guitar. The tuning I have for this rendition sounds terrible but once played right it’s makes sense (I played an E chord at the beginning to show you how out of kilter it is. It’s not perfect and neither am I and neither are anyone of us but by God’s grace whenever He puts His hand on us and strums our souls the most beautiful music can come out of us! I pray that this blesses someone today!
