This time, ARTGER visited a northern camel-herding family, a rare sight in Mongolia. Most of Mongolia’s camel herders have lived in the southern regions of the country, specifically in the Gobi area, for centuries. In northern Mongolia, winter brings the coldest conditions in the region, with temperatures in some cases dropping as low as -45 °C. To survive the harsh winter season, camel herders prepare meat once a year, and during this time, they use camel meat for food.
