What if a 1920s hobo needed a backpack… but only had an old wooden chair? In this video, I build and test a historically inspired, Trapper Nelson style hobo backpack frame made from a vintage ladder-back chair using simple leather straps, a gunny sack, and some old-time ingenuity.
During the Great Depression, hoboes and travelers of all sorts had to be masters of improvisation, often turning everyday objects into practical survival equipment.
