About this demo:
I went 320 by 240 for resolution and created a semi-transparent scan line overlay to recreate the feel of playing on a CRT television, with an additional z-axis warping shader applied to the vehicle for that additional pseudo authenticity. The Radar and Rear View HUD viewports are independent(playerlocal) cameras feeding to their respective raw streaming UI textures in realtime. For the character select screen I made a fire stylized with VHS ghosting and looped it with a simple fade. I recorded, looped, and mixed the character select musical track Paint It Twisted completely from scratch with original instrumentation. And The sky in the distance replaces the original gradient present in the original 1997 level. I edited to seamlessly loop with only a slide fade present halfway through the video.")
