I am essentially picking up from a Naatiska video, which can be found at youtube.com/watch?v=jl60uGRs2mY. I gave the technique a try and here is a short video of the more effective results, though there was a lot more odd glitching and exploring going on as the technique can be used in so many rooms.
Basically the technique used is the same except that a jump is utilized instead of a horizontal shinespark, which gives full control once the room transition is bypassed with pausing.
I've been unsuccessful getting it to work without Speed Booster momentum so far.
EDIT: Later I was successful: youtube.com/watch?v=GQbmNPc1atE
Contents:
-Skipping half of Area 3, as well as GF Camp, Cordite Mines, and Area 4 using an arbitrary alternate door.
-Skipping Area 5's lava and rock barrier.
-Skipping the Alpha/Omega lava and rock barrier.
I've been unsuccessful skipping the Ice Beam, too, due to the transition to the second vertical metroid room has put me inside the room thus far. I had the same result when trying to reach the metroid larva from the Genetic Labs exit that is near the start of the game. I'm not an expert at this game, though, so I hope for someone more experienced to quickly pick up the slack.
EDIT: Not long after I did a 1% run, skipping all items but Spider Ball: youtube.com/watch?v=oqcLZlFs4lc
Played on v1.1.
Another Metroid II Remake (AM2R) is a remake of the 1991 Game Boy classic Metroid II: Return of Samus that was developed by a dedicated group of fans, headed by DoctorM64, for nearly ten years. It was released as a free download to the community on Metroid's 30th Anniversary after it not having an acceptable game for nine years. Nintendo shut it down the same day.
