Maximum Gold is a very... interesting Yu-Gi-Oh! Set. While its new and improved Premium Gold Rare Technology does have its high points, there have been a ton of quality control consistency issues that could make this one of the most ridiculous sets in the game's history. Was the mass production of this intricate gold foil too much for Konami to transfer to the TCG?
There's also the issue on these cards physically being thicker - raised edges look gorgeous and make the art pop, but the cards have varying thickness where those edges occur so that you can even feel them through the fronts of your sleeves. Whether this will amount to any real issues with play remains to be seen.
Overall, I think Maximum Gold is a fun set to explore, and definitely worth checking out. This display box was definitely full of surprises along the way that I found enjoyable. Maybe one day these Gold Rares will finally grow on me!
