Now, I nearly didn’t make a video for the end of the year. COVID came my way again last month – someone’s holiday wish must be my downfall – but I felt better come December and was ready to make something. So, I started a script. Then another. Then another. Then another. There might have even been a fifth one? Truthfully, I wasn’t feeling up to it. A lot was happening, some problems I’ve had for a while have gotten a bit worse. Therefore, I didn’t know how to tackle my Christmas Thomas the Tank Engine video.

Eventually, I realised I needed to get some thoughts out there. I had no clue how, I don’t really know if I’ve managed to get them out in the end, or if they mean much of anything. Even putting those feelings aside, the Google Document never seemed to stay on my laptop for long, before I got distracted and clicked onto another tab. To top it all, that I’ve really grown to loathe my voice recently. Dysphoria hasn’t been kind. Unlike last year, I hadn’t really lost my voice at all, but I just couldn’t use it. I needed to talk about all of this, in some way or another, but I just couldn’t figure out how to.
And yet, despite everything, I’ve brute forced my way here, into sharing something a bit different than usual with you. ‘Different than usual’ in the sense that I don’t have a ‘usual’ anymore.

I hope that this story resonates with its audience. Something I always feel strongly about with my creative works is that they must be personal. They must be something you can watch, roll their eyes, and go “yeah, Demon of Nowhere made this, didn’t they? Damn it.”
Nowhere does this show more than in this video. Honestly, I’m pretty nervous about it. Really nervous, actually. The most nervous I’ve ever been with a video. It feels like I’m putting myself out there, and I am a bit terrified. That is a lot for a silly Thomas the Tank Engine fan video, I know. So, it means a lot that you’re still here. If you’ve managed to read this, thank you for hearing me out. I hope you like this story, about two of my favourite characters of all time, facing some familiar thoughts.
