In this case, I find that tons of what was "wrong" with my 2004 Nissan Frontier, turned out to be effects rather than causes. Without the fuel temperature sensor, my truck wouldn't produce long term fuel trims, and because it was trying to do it all on the fly with short term fuel trims, the catalytic converters didn't look as healthy and even set a P0420 and P0430 for catalytic converter no. 1 and 2 respectively. Each of these codes can mean that the catalytic converter efficiency is down.
But remember, whenever you see a "bad cat", check upstream for issues first because your catalytic converter inefficiency may just be a problem farther upstream. And this is why you confirm in diagnostics the first repair before assuming other issues are real.
This was certainly the case in today's video. I'm glad, the aftermarket catalytic converters were $520, and that was going as cheap as possible on eBay.
